On an area of more than 8 hectares, the artist André Heller has created one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, the Anima garden! this haven is one of the gardens that you absolutely must visit at least once in your life.
This garden dedicated to art and culture opened its doors to visitors in 2016. It was imagined and created in 2008 by the famous artist André Heller, one of the most influential actionist artists in the world but also a lover of Morocco who wanted to design a park of curiosities, plantations and flowers a few minutes from Marrakech.
In the Anima garden of Marrakech, there are different types of trees from all over the world, fragrant flowers as well as different works of art and sculptures that deserve to be contemplated for several minutes.
It also has a rather chic café “Le café Paul Bowles” where you can drink a fresh fruit juice or water to refresh yourself. You can also order pastries and pastries to cut the hunger after the tour of the large garden.
The story of the garden
After André Heller moved to Morocco in 2006, he decided to create a garden of curiosities near Marrakech. This is how he began the creation of the Anima garden and its rooms in which works of art are exhibited.
The name of the garden was not chosen at random, Anima is a Greek word meaning ‘Soul’. This word was chosen by the artist to symbolize what loves most in the ocher city, its soul.
